Amongst the numerous Parque Nacional or National Parks located in Costa Rica, some of the most popular and oft visited ones include:
Parque Nacional – Located in the city of San Jose, this
is one of the biggest of all the parks located in the city,
surrounding a hill. It is famous for statues of those who gave
their lives and contributed greatly in the war of 1856. Children
and parents as well as elders come to this park to play or read
papers or take a walk. It is usually suggested to avoid visiting
it in the night time.
Parque Nacional Irazu Volcano – It surrounds the volcano
of the same name and is located at a height of 3432 meters above
the sea level. From this height, you can look into the green
waters covering the crater and also look around at the fabulous
sight of the country from all sides.
Parque Nacional Tapanti – Located in the valley of Orosi,
it comprises of rainy forests of the region as well as montano
forest and is home to more than two hundred and fifty species
of birds as well amphibians, more than forty species of rare
mammals.
Parque Nacional Bruilio Carrillo – This extraordinarily
beautiful place is where you will see multi-colored butterflies
flattering around you in order to be friends. This national
park is also home to innumerable species of trees, birds and
mammals some of which are truly rare such as capuchin monkeys,
jaguars, pumas, ocelots, pacas, raccoons and many more.
Parque Nacional Cahuita – This is one of the most special
and different national parks of Costa Rica as it not only has
fauna of numerous species but also beaches with swaying palms,
forests, marshlands and mangroves to make the entire feel complete.
It is home to innumerable exotic birds such as herons, Central
American Curassow, Swainsons and more.
