The Parque National Volcano Poas include the varieties of wild life. Bang's Mountain Squirrel is one of them. Apart from this the park also provides four kinds of habitats. They can be taken as areas with stunted forest, scarce vegetation, arrayans and cloud forest. The Parque National Volcano Poas also offers seventy nine kinds of species of birds. The most interesting of them are the hummingbird, the robin, the beautiful quetzal and many others. The bird that is very rare is the green yellow squirrel. They are known as the Poas green yellow squirrel. This you can watch in the Parque National Volcano Poas. The mammals of the park include the names of long tailed weasels, small felines, coyotes and skunks.
The visitors can also notice the stunted forest or the dwarf forest which contains the plants that are not allowed to grow tall. This is for the acid rain that erupts from the volcano. This is the feature of the eco system of the park.
The Parque National Volcano Poas also presents short trails that are found into the forest and areas surrounding the craters. The crater overtook trail is about seven hundred and fifty meters in length. The Escalonia trail is in the forest. If you walk thirty minutes you can reach to your destination of the Escalonia trail.
