Poas is one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica; it last erupted in the year 1952 and is considered as one of the active volcanoes. It is situated near San Jose and has two main craters; dense forests surround the craters and thus has transformed into a National Park. The park roughly measures 6000 hectares and covered with luxuriant trees and other vegetations. The park is situated at an altitude of 3000 meters. The craters have become artificial lakes for the Poas Volcano National Park. Some of the animals that you get to see here are coyotes, long tailed weasels, skunks and many more. There are innumerable bird species in the park too. A visit to this park would be a life time asset for you.
